How You Show Up Matters: The Business Vibe You’re Giving Off
Ever walk into a business or go to receive a service and immediately feel something?
Maybe it’s quiet and calm, or perhaps it’s disorganized, tense, or disconnected. Whatever the case, that first impression—that vibe—sticks.
So, here’s the question: What kind of impression is your business giving off?
One of my mentors once told me, “How you do anything is how you do everything—even if it’s not true.”
That phrase has stuck with me and continues to make me pause and reflect on how I model good business practices—and where I still need to grow.
Let’s be honest: we’re all human. And if you’re an entrepreneur, chances are you’re a creative thinker who grew frustrated with the limitations of a corporate environment and wanted to do things differently. You had a vision. You still do.
But realizing that vision requires awareness.
You—and your employees or representatives—are your brand.
Ask yourself:
- Do we have systems in place to really understand the customer experience?
- Do we welcome feedback and use it to grow?
- When was the last time you checked your Google reviews—or responded to them?
The group mind of a business—its shared energy and culture—has a bigger impact than most people realize. It can make or break your reputation. We all know that business—the one that leaves a lasting impression, for better or worse. You probably thought of one just now. Why? Were your experiences positive or negative? Did you go back? Would you recommend it—or hesitate because your own reputation might be attached to that referral?
It’s worth thinking about how you want your business to be remembered.
Is it dynamic? Does it thrive? Is it evolving and constructing a vision for the future—or has it become stale and moldy?
Your clients are looking for reputable, memorable experiences right here in their own community. And as business owners, we have the opportunity to deliver that consistently—with intention and care.
