Special Olympics New York

Special Olympics New York's Hudson Valley Region is dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities through the transformative power of sport. Proudly serving more than 3,600 athletes across Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties, the region provides year-round training and competition opportunities across a wide range of sports, all made possible by a passionate network of volunteers and coaches.

Each year, the Hudson Valley Region hosts more than 500 competitions and events, giving athletes the chance to build confidence, forge friendships, and experience the joy of achievement both on and off the field. Beyond athletics, the region supports inclusion-focused initiatives like Unified Champion Schools, which bring together students with and without disabilities through shared sports and leadership programs.

Led by a dedicated regional team out of the Hudson Valley office in Wappingers Falls, NY, Special Olympics New York continues to grow its impact through community partnerships, sponsorships, and a deep commitment to inclusion. Whether someone is looking to become an athlete, volunteer, coach, or donor, the Hudson Valley Region offers meaningful ways to get involved and be part of a movement that champions acceptance, respect, and the power of sport to change lives.
