The Sports Museum of Dutchess County, established in 1974 and located at 81 Carnwath Farms Lane in Wappingers Falls, NY, is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich sports history of the region.
Founded by Charles R. "Mr. Average Bowler" Howroyd, the museum features the permanent "Legends of Dutchess" exhibit, which highlights the careers of the county's greatest athletes through biographies and artifacts.
Notable items include Ty Cobb's bat, Arnold Palmer's autograph, and a 1920s ice yacht. The museum also honors over 200 inductees in its Hall of Fame, recognizing individuals for their contributions to sports rather than just their accomplishments.
In 2025, the museum introduced the Patsy “Pat” Zerbe Women in Sports Room, celebrating the legacy of trailblazing female athletes in the county.
